OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

• Spread a layer of charcoal or briquettes on charcoal grate of grill or on a bed of sand or gravel.
• Lay electric starter on top with handle well outside the fire area.
• Pile more charcoal in a pyramid on top of the element.
• Plug into a 100 or 120-volt outlet.
• After approximately 8 minutes, disconnect and remove electric starter from fire.
• Spread coals evenly and form a bed of coals.

IMPORTANT

The instructions above tell you to remove the electric starter from the charcoal after 8 minutes. The reason for this is that your electric starter will attain a temperature of 1000°F. This temperature will hasten the deterioration of your starter and with sufficient wind; the charcoal will melt the sheath of the element. If you leave you starter in the charcoal and if it is still plugged in, there is danger of explosion as the sheath reaches the melting point.

CAUTION:
To ensure continued protection against shock hazard, this heating element should be connected to properly grounded outlets only. Operate on 100to 120 volts. When removing the starter from use, disconnect from outlet and rest on positioning bracket to air cool.
